Lowrance Hook 7 can store up to 3,000 waypoints, 100 routes (100 waypoints per route), and 100 trails (10,000 points per trail). Still, it is important to note that the detail level is truly low. However, the unit WILL be able to indicate your current location and serve as a plotter. They will not provide you with any contour data or other useful information like lighthouses or marine services. The model we are talking about in this review comes with preloaded BaseMap charts, which are pretty rudimentary, as the name suggests.

It refreshes every single second and it can also measure the speed of your vessel. Lowrance Hook 7 comes with a built-in 16-channel GPS antenna, which ensures fast and accurate positioning and locks. It will provide you with photo-like quality images and give you a proper understanding of all the structures and potential targets under your vessel.įinally, Lowrance Hook 7 also comes with numerous sonar functions, including Advanced Singal Processing (also works with DownScan), Sonar Recording and TrackBack, DownScan Overlay to combine your 2D and DownScan views, Bottom Lock, A-Scope, Split-Flasher, and Fish ID with several depth and fish alarms. While the 2D CHIRP sonar is excellent at locating and separating individual fish targets, DownScan is much better at determining the shapes of underwater structures and the overall bottom constitution. The provided transducer comes with a temperature sensor, transom mount, and 20ft of power cable.

In other words, you will have med and high CHIRP at your disposal, but you can also upgrade the unit with a 50/200 kHz transducer and use low CHIRP. Note that the unit is not capable of SideScan imaging.įor the CHIRP sonar, the transducer utilizes two conical beams at 20° for 200 kHz and 60° for 83 kHz.

Clip based gain and a 64bit double precision engine among other numerous features.įor myself this DAW has been glitch free since install. Many features that other DAWs are just catching up to are and have been a part of Sonar for a while now. You can literally get great sound right out of the box. I have only just scratched the surface as to the possibilities. Session Drummer 3, Dimension Pro, Beascape, True Pianos, a Vocal Strip, Channel Strip, Audiosnap(beatemapper), V-Vocal. These also along with tube saturation emulation and the potential to add modules like Softube' Saturation Knob, PC4K S type Compressor and Concrete limiter make it not only convenient but expandable and customizable. The fact that these are integrated and very easy on the cpu is icing on the cake. Having a quality 1176 type compressor and eq on every bus is a great luxury. With time, I'm sure I could make the adjustment but I wouldn't want to. Trying to work with this DAW on one screen is still cumbersome though doable. Routing is very intuitive but I would recommend dual monitors. But, after some customizing, things are comfortable. I found the layout cumbersome and difficult to maneuver.įinally, I received and email promoting X1 upgrade and expanded for $110. When X1 first came out, I tried the demo and was thoroughly unimpressed. Once or twice for a couple of projects just to try it out and yes, it worked well with very few problems and some really nice results. There's a whack of tools available in the package. I installed it and hey, it works pretty well. I was able to acquire Sonar 8.5 Producer. Do they still exist? These kinds of things really turned me away from Sonar as being a sort of insincere DAW.

I suppose it was the fact that I've always tied the use of WDM drivers and DX support to poor quality consumer sound cards.
